London 2020/1

13/03/20 – Marathon Postponement

UPDATED POST

With the postponement of the London Marathon now confirmed, we wanted to be fair to all of our wonderful sponsors (whether they have already donated or have pledged to do so) and clarify our position.

We are still pressing full steam ahead with all of our fundrasing activities as we still need top hit our targets by end of April to ensure we keep our places until the race is run in the autumn.

I had a video conference with my charity today and my understanding of the position is that they have already have committed this money to the budgets of their research centres, based on what they expected to get in. Many initiatives and clinical trials will be endangered if the money isn’t forthcoming at the right time. I’m sure that is the same for Sue, too.

The London Marathon is, by far and away, the biggest fundraiser in the year for both our charities, so you can fully understand their position here.

Here’s what you can do to help us…

  • Buy Neil’s Charity Ukulele album which was released today (great timing there!) – https://mrspoons-ukefb.bandcamp.com
  • Come to our Charity Quiz Night on Friday 3rd April (see poster below), which will still go ahead… unless, of course, we are in locked down. If you haven’t already, please consider donating to our Just-Giving pages (accessible in the menu above). They will remain open until after the Marathon eventually takes place, but as explained above we need to hit our base targets by April 30.

We will keep you all updated via this blog and the usual social media channels. Hope that makes some sort of sense. Any questions just drop us an email.
