London 2016

11/11/15 – The Grand Old Duke of York

It’s time for a Team JimBob curry night with Jim, manager Marc and myself getting together in Crystal Palace Triangle to discuss plans for 2016 and generally shoot the breeze*. Also the LM bond money was paid today, so no going back now.

Marc is a Marathon veteran and constant source of encouragement in my running, even though he is a ‘proper runner’. Put it this way, we both entered his local marathon in October and he had time to go home have a shower, assemble his family and get back to the finish line in plenty of time to cheer Sue and I home.

Whenever we meet, I take the opportunity to pump him for training hints and tips, well, at least until Jim’s eyes glaze over. On a good night this can take all of three minutes.

That said, it was great evening and we leave with a head full of schemes and plans for the forthcoming year, the many of which will inevitably fall by the wayside, if previous form is anything to go by. Although I appear to have forgotten everything Marc told me even though I wasn’t drinking.

In an effort to boost my weekly Vitality points total, I decided to walk both ways. This is around 3 miles from home and steeply uphill on the way there. As it turns out, I didn’t need to walk home as you only get points for one activity per day. Bah!
